Frequency Asked Questions

Why should I book a wedding videographer for my wedding day?

Weddings are so special. It's a day full of love between the two of you, and often your closest family and friends are also there sharing it with you. Your wedding film is a treasured memory which becomes more and more important as the years go on. Photographs are wonderful, and an important part of your wedding day, but a wedding film captures the atmosphere, the sounds, the sights in a way that photography can't. It captures the voices of those we love and the memories of our interactions on what will become one of your most treasured days. It's a lovely keepsake to show to family in future years and of all the wedding regrets I've heard over the years, the regret of not hiring a videographer is the one I hear most often.

What is your videography style?

Documentary! This means I'll be there, among your guests but not in anyone's way. I'll be there capturing everyone having a great time without too much fuss.

What equipment do you use?

I shoot my wedding films in full HD using professional camera equipment.

I use a minimum of two cameras for your ceremony and speeches, with my trusty Sony as my main shooting camera for the day, along with a variety of different lenses interchanged throughout the day. I'll use support equipment too such as tripods, monopods, gimbals etc to make sure I'm getting the shots I need.

How do you record sound?

I use professional sound recording equipment to ensure your vows and speeches are clear. Sound is just as important as visuals when it comes to filming your wedding day. I use a variety of Rode and Sony recording equipment to make sure all sound is captured in crystal-clear quality. One is usually be placed discreetly in the groom's jacket pocket for the ceremony, with readings microphone and/or officiant also having mics. The groom's microphone is sensitive enough to pick up the bride's voice clearly too. The same method is used for your speeches.

How long will my wedding film be?

Your wedding film will be around 45-90 minutes, depending on package chosen and the different elements of your day. Time can vary based on length of ceremony, length of speeches etc. Your wedding film will be supplied on a USB in a keepsake presentation box.

I'd like a highlights film to share on social media. Is this extra?

A highlights film is included in each of my packages as standard. I will share this on my Facebook, Instagram and Vimeo so you can share to your own social media channels, and a copy will also be included on your wedding film USB.

Can I choose the music for my wedding film?

Yes! I'll ask you to supply me with a list of around 10 songs for me to pick from to overplay your wedding film on USB. They should be songs that you both love and are appropriate for a wedding film (e.g. songs you wouldn't mind your children, grandma or colleague also listening to if you share the film with them!). I would suggest a mixture of slow and fast songs to suit the different sections of your day.

I will choose the music for your highlights film. This is due to copyright licensing on for music that will be shared online but I'll choose something which suits the vibe of your day.

I'm quite a shy person. I'm not sure about being on film.

Please don't worry. My videography style is candid, which means I'll be there in the background making sure I'm as subtle as I can. It's amazing how quickly you'll forget I'm there once you're enjoying your day with your new spouse and your guests! I also include a Zoom consultation a couple of weeks before your wedding to chat through all the details and answer any questions you might have. I'm a quiet person too and my videography style is exactly what I wanted on my own wedding day - nothing too staged or posed.

Do you require a meal?

No! You don't have to feed me, unless you want to of course. If you would like to provide a meal, a bar/restaurant meal will suffice.

What do you do when we're having our meal?

I'll be taking the opportunity to sit down and eat something, of course! I'll have been on my feet for about 8 hours by the time you have your meal. During that time I'll have been thinking about camera angles, lens changes, microphones and other recording equipment, what's happening next, making sure you both feel comfortable... Once you go for your meal then it's time for me to grab a bite, check the footage from your day so far before getting ready for your evening reception.

How can I check your availability?

Fill out my contact form to get in touch, or email hello@emmaforsythevideography.com

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes, a £200 deposit secures your wedding date with the balance owed four weeks before the big day.

Do you list your prices?

Yes! My prices are listed under packages. I believe in open, transparent pricing. You're trying to budget for so many vendors on your wedding day and having prices hidden only makes that process more time-consuming for you.

I'd like to include bridal prep in my package but there is a travel restriction. What does this mean?

I'd be delighted to film your bridal prep! However, the prep location must be within reasonable proximity to the ceremony venue. I'm travelling from my home near Ballyclare and this will factor in to whether it's possible for me to make it to the bridal prep venue. I need to make sure I have enough time for filming at the ceremony before your guests start to arrive.

Will you travel anywhere in N.I.?

Yes, but an £85 surcharge will apply for locations with a 1.5 hour drive or more. This allows me to book in to a B+B as a long drive home after 8-10+ hours of shooting is never a good idea!

Will you travel to Ireland, Great Britain or a destination wedding?

Yes! Depending on location, surcharges may apply for flights and accommodation.

Do we need to meet up before the wedding?

Once you've sent your enquiry using my contact form, and paid your deposit, some couples wish to have an introductory Zoom call. Then, within a month of your wedding day we'll have another call to say hi and discuss the running order of the day.

How long does it take to receive my wedding film?

You should receive your wedding film USB via tracked postage within 8 weeks of your wedding. I'll also post your highlights film on my social media, with your permission.
